  • Forgive me Meguiars, for I had doubt...

I'm so sorry to have doubted you Meguiars!!

Finally for the first time in months, it was a warm day and I'm off work so I set out to hand wash the car.

It went well and after washing every panel twice (two bucket method and NXT wash) I looked upon my work. Eh, it was clean but the paint just didnt have that BAM! it had last year when I finished washing it. There were stains and tiny artifacts and just **** in the paint holding it back from shining.

Something had to be done and I recalled having a sample sized bottle of Megs Paint Cleaner. It must have come with my Megs clay bar or something. Not sure how I got it. I tested it on the hood, let it dry, then buffed it off and holy Valentines cow the paint looked fabulous!

So then I did the whole car. Stunning results and I'm not sure why I assumed the little bottle of paint cleaner was useless. Even after some age, it worked like a charm.

And this is a long way of me just saying thanks to Meguiars. I love their stuff refuse to use anything else on my car.

A cell phone pic of the "after."

    Car looks amazing.!!

I think what you used was CleanerWax instead of the Paint Cleaner. You get a sample of Cleaner Wax when you buy the ClayBar kit

        Looks really nice and slick.

What did you dress the tires with?

Thanks. The tires have the best stuff I've ever used on them. Black Magic Titanium Gel. Great stuff.

I think Thursday when it's warm again I'll spray it off and top the cleaner wax with Nxt2.

Also that little bottle lasted because of what you guys taught me.. Thin coats!

              Looks great!!

I had a side molding that looked like the paint was worn through and it looked pretty bad and rough. One day I pulled out the same little bottle of cleaner wax from the clay kit, I worked it into the molding, wiped it off... Towel had black residue, and the molding was bright red!!! Great stuff to have around.

Say 5 Hail Barry's and you will be forgiven.

                Looks good!

Great work, and nice tC you got there.
I randomly tried the cleaner wax, and I too, can attest to the job it does.

                  I'll just leave this here..

[mind you, this was taken two days ago, after a quick pressure wash, hasn't been detailed since late October ]

                    Looks good man!

One quick question since I see yours has more of a reflection and less "orange peel."

I always thought orange peel was a good thing but on yours I see more reflection than peel. How do you go from orange peel to reflection?

Orange peel is a flaw in the paint itself. Unfortunately, wet sanding is about the only thing you can do.

Have you modded your tC at all?

Yep I have the rare bronze fujita intake and an Ark DT-S catback. That's it. Promised myself I wouldn't go crazy on this car.

A flaw? That doesn't sound good. Is that common?

Unfortunately Orange peel is pretty common.
"Orange peel is typically the result of improper painting technique, and is caused by the quick evaporation of thinner, incorrect spray gun setup (e.g., low air pressure or incorrect nozzle), spraying the paint at an angle other than perpendicular, or applying excessive paint."

Oh, nice catch on the intake! Is that the CAI then? I have a short ram, and the sound of sucking air past 4000rpm, is just lovely.
