Any reason(s) not to use Ultimate Wax on top of ColorX?

I worked in ColorX today. I'll be laying down the UWax tomorrow night and report back.

Honestly, I don't know if it has carnauba in it. I feel like it doesn't because of the way it's used. I seem to recall Stoops even comparing it's use case to Klasse AIO, which does not have carnauba. Plus ColorX is often topped with a sealant. On the flip side, I *think* ColorX is an old product which might pre-date polymer sealants.

As far as longevity, I would not consider it using ColorX without something on top of it. For me ColorX is more about the light clean, remarkable polish, and easy use than it is the protectant. That being said, when I use ColorX (often), as Murr suggested to me a long time ago, I allow it to be my first coat of protectant and therefore only apply a single coat of sealant on top of it. Makes for a quick detail that's hard to beat in my experience.

ColorX is a carnuba blend (carnuba & synthetic).

                Double Bingo!

ColorX is a more potent form of cleaner wax than our A12 Cleaner Wax, but still that's what it is. On very delicate paint it can do wonders to eliminate hazing from a more aggressive defect removal liquid, or just remove fine towel marks, add some polish and a carnauba/polymer blend of protection. As part of a two step process as Keith outlines, it can be pretty fantastic. You don't need to apply anything else on top of it, but you can if you wish.

On a daily driver, if you apply ColorX every couple of months you'll prevent the accumulation of fine defects, embedded dirt, light staining etc and keep a good layer of protection on the vehicle. This can pay huge dividends over time, and if you don't have (or aren't willing to devote) a lot of time to your vehicle's finish, ColorX alone can work wonders.

After years (lots of them -- about 50), I ready to agree that "easy" is good. I have found that using ColorX every couple of months as suggested and then applying ultimate spray wax after every other wash makes for a "shine" that is hard to beat and it's a heck of a lot easier than using #16.

#16 is easy in my opinion. Put it on thin. I use ColorX and then #16 and for my eye, you cannot beat it on shine or durability. . Besides, for anything in life that is too easy, you give up something, and IMHO is just not worth it.

I've gone through lots of cans of #16. It was my wax of choice for many years. As often as most of us wax, durability is not really an issue. If you want to layer for looks, IMO you can't beat P21S/S100 Carnauba Wax. Easy on, easy off, but it's not all that durable. But then most of what we post is pretty subjective.
