I am new to the detailing scene so any help would be great... I have a 1999 Mustang that is Laser Red in color... The previous owners severely neglected the paint so now the hood has turned pink with white chalky spots on it the roof, trunk, wing have all started to turn pinkish color the sides are still looking great... My question is what products should I use to get rid of the pink? I tried Duragloss 652 by hand with a terry covered applicator on the wing nd it seemed to bring back the deep red color after a few applications... But that is far too much work for the entire car... I am ready to purchase a Porter Cable 7424xp but I would like to get everything at once... Thanks in advanced....

Re: Help with oxidized mustang
First off, welcome to MOL!!!!
I highly recommend getting a Porter Cable 7424XP or equivalent to make the job much easier. Are you working on single stage paint? Did the applicator turn red after working the finish?
I would recommend picking up Ultimate Compound, Ultimate Polish and Ultimate Wax. This 3 stage system will definitely restore the color on your cars finish.
What manufacturer of pads are you going with? Meguiars, Lake Country, etc.? That will effect which pads you should get but I will give you a list of what I would get.
Meguiars Pads:
4 W8207 polishing pads
2 W9207 finishing pads
Lake Country Pads:
2 Orange Light cutting Pads
3 White Polishing Pads
1 Black Finishing Pad
Buff'n Shine:
2 Orange Light Cutting pads
3 Green Polishing pads
1 Black Finishing pad

Re: Help with oxidized mustang
There is a clear coat on the car... I am planning to go with the Porter Cable 7424xp and lake country pads since I've heard nothing but great reviews for both... Although I'm not sure if I should do the 5.5" or 6.5" nd also not sure what series of pads would be best... Should I also get some microfiber towels for removing the products? Thanks for the help...

Re: Help with oxidized mustang
No there was no color transfer to the pad that I could notice... The reason I say that is because the Duragloss 652 product is a pinkish red... But I looked up the color code nd it says it's a tri stage paint whatever that is... Is there a way I can check for the color transfer without the duragloss product?

Re: Help with oxidized mustang
I am just waiting for the pictures to be approved for posting...
But the first picture was taken closer the surface to show the condition of the hood paint compared to the fender. I do not expect complete correction of the hood just decent results.
The second picture is a side view so you can see where the oxidation starts on the sail panel.
The third picture is just a different side angle view without the glare of the sun.
