What a fantastic transformation - the car looks great now! You did an awesome job on this, first time or not. Well done!!
Windows can be tricky and it comes down to a balance between using enough product to cut through the grime but not so much that it's self drying on the glass. Try this:
Spray the glass cleaner on a portion of the glass and apply/wipe/work with a clean towel (terry or microfiber, makes little difference although you'll find staunch supporters for both types)
Flip to the dry side of the towel, or grab a second clean, dry towel for a final wipe/buff of the glass. If need be, mist just a tiny amount of glass cleaner on the surface and then buff until dry
Get into the corners or along edges with an almost dry towel to remove any light build up left behind
Do your final wipe on the outside of the glass from side to side, and on the inside of the glass in an up and down motion. That way, if there is any streaking present, you can quickly tell which side of the glass it's on.
Don't over use the product!!!!
Again, you did an outstanding job on the car - this thread is a keeper, that's for darn sure. It's quite rewarding for us to have a new user come on the forum, ask a ton of questions, do their research, and then put their new found knowledge to successful use. Great way to start a Friday!!
Thank you so much! It means a lot, could not have done without all of guys support!
I still can't get the Swirls and scratches out of my spoiler. I just did UC four times for a total time of over 30 minutes. It still didn't take it out. What else can I do?
If the UC was too strong, or the pad was too strong, they could be making their own marks.
So the swirls there now would remove, but new ones would be formed, making them move around.
If there is a decent swirl/scratch you can watch, and it isnt going anywhere, then you are stuck. But if it seems like random swirls just move around, you may be too strong.

Well, I used a new pad and switched to SwirlX and did it two more times, still the scratches and swirls did not come out. It did get a little better, but I started getting black stuff on the towels when I was wiping it off so I was worried that the paint or something was coming off, so I just stopped, used some UC and just waxed it.
Once again, zobie, absolutely fantastic work! Your car looks great now, and the transformation is just incredible - very nicely done. Feels good, doesn't it?

Feels good, yes, but that word really doesn't do justice to how I feel after at all. It really feels like an accomplishment, an education. It feels amazing, I have done something I never knew I could, and my car looks better then it ever has. I am so proud of myself, and has made like my car to a whole new level. Not only that, I was contemplating getting a new car off and on, and that feeling is entirely gone, and I proudly display my car. Thank you.
Now that everything is done. Things are put away, garage is cleaned, and the car is looking better then it has ever before. It was washed after 8 months, and it probably got it's first proper car wash. To get to this point there are several people that I need to express my utmost gratitude. Most principally Michael Stoops and Murr1525, their constant advice and recommendation were priceless, along with Rapport25, sharing your personal experience was great as well. I would have never accomplished this without their help. Also to be noted are wifpd4 - finding me that backing plate was amazing for you to do that. I could have never expected someone on the other side of the country to find me a backing plate at a local store to me. If you had not found that, most likely my project would have been delaying a week, so thank you.
This really was an education, an enlightenment that will persevere with me, and one that I will use constantly throughout life. Maybe in the future I might not have time to do it myself, but my car's paint will be taken care of properly one way or another. Thank you everyone for your support and taking your time to help me with my car. When my schedule opens up a bit, I hope to pass this knowledge along to my family, and hopefully do the same to my parents cars. I will go back to my normal schedule now, but I will be sure to take care of my car every week or two, and I hope to remain an active member here.
It will be easier to care for now as well. Just make sure you use the best car wash tools, etc possible, and swirls should stay to a minimum. You can wash and UQW regularly, do a little detailiing now and then. And then maybe once a year after winter you can worry about a bigger detail to remove any swirls, etc.
And only the mild products should be needed. If you needed UC often, something would obviously be wrong in your washing, etc.
