  • what to do about this

ok so im pretty mad right now,
its not about my car or anything.
but im advertising some paint correction service online.
i state i use a safe method using a da polisher and i explain how it works n things like that.

but then theres this other place that does detailing and they made a thread with the topic "pros use high speed buffers,da's are for beginners, they dont work"

that just gets me mad, their throwing that directly at me. Should i let it fly or should i send them an email

You could send an email. Just be nice and calm when you do. If they didn't use your name maybe it wasn't directed at you personally and they were just making a statement or stating their opinion.

That's their way of attracting business. Simply tell your customers that the statement they made is misconstrued in that DA's can be used by beginners because they are very safe but they are very effective in the hands of a proffesional. Don't say the company was wrong, say the statement was wrong. At least, that's what I would do.

Thats right Shawn T. Bussiness world is a world of competition all the time, just say that you can do a proffessional work with a DA.

I honestly see no need to contact them - I don't see any good to come from it. Also, you might be a bit paranoid in assuming they are directing it towards you. A lot of people hold that same incorrect assumption - largely because in many cases with older products a D/A wouldn't be enough to get the job done.

Problem is, new products have changed the game and those old misconceptions still exist.

The best way to address it in my opinion is to simply explain the pros of a DA on your site. Some people wouldn't want a high-speed buffer touching their car, play that up to your advantage.

Just be honest and don't mislead people.

Well said Mark, I wouldn't spend the time getting into an email battle with them either. Just make sure all of your info is correct and not critical of others when explaining your process with the DA.

                Good luck.

                  +1 on Mark's solid advice

Since you mention it was written as a thread, I assume it was posted on another detailing forum. If that's the case, and like any other forum, you will have fanboys of both rotary and DA polishers and the appropriate response should come as a reply on the same thread. If the pro-rotary pundits know anything about polishing, you could reference Kevin Brown's well known and well informed opinions on DA polishing

Re: what to do about this

I think the same result can come from DA and rotary, maybe differents pads and products but the final purpose is to take out a fine film of paint. A pro with Da or Rotary can do a excellent job. The people behind the machine is more important than machine itself. Anyway rotary or DA are only tools.

Pictures are worth 1000 words..if you have pics of some of your work I would post them...Pros use rotary buffers to speed up the throughput of their shops...more cars in and out = more cash...I've seen plenty of rotary work with buffer trails so, stick to your guns...love the challenge...and agreed, welcome to the business world where not everyone is as "nice" as you would like them to be.

I think the statement here that stands out most is:
The people behind the machine is more important than machine itself.
                        Well said............

Like Mark said, explain the pros of the DA and back up your statement with some before and after pictures too.

                              I too agree with Mark.

Just for your own 'good feeling'...Mike Phillips teaches his class to use a DA after rotary to finish polish and make sure all those trails etc are gone.
