Waxing windows

This may sound stupid, but is it possible to use nxt gen was on the outside of car windows? I ask because on the paintwork the water beads brilliantlt with the wax, thats exactly what you need for your windscreen etc?

I don't think Meguiar's specifically recommends waxing your windows, but a lot of people do it without any problems. I personally use Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Wax on my windows. It is a lot easier than regular wax. You do not have to wait for it to haze and buff any residue off. You just mist it onto the clean window and wipe it off and your done. With the Hydrophobic technology, it works great at repelling the rain when you are driving down the road. Almost like Rain-X

Same here, been waxing my windows forever with no problems, UQW and UQD work best in the rain

I've always been a Rain-X user,but I tried wax this winter on my glass and have been very happy with it, at least on the side and rear glass. I used Collinite 845 and ice sticks much less than Rain-X. We've had a fairly tough winter in Pittsburgh (it's currently 15 and dropping to 1 tonight) and I've never yet had a side window frozen stuck. I still think I prefer Rain-X on the windshield, so I reapplied today, but I'm definitely sold on wax for the rest of the glass.

Waxing windows is pointless. It won't last any more than a few weeks or a couple of swishes of the blades on the windscreen. What you need is a dedicated window sealent (and RainX is pants also).

I use a nanotech window sealent from Gtecnic designed to last 2 years, although I'm experiencing more even on the windscreen. It dosen't really cost that more than a good quality wax also.

The only negative is it can be a bit of a pain to apply/buff.

For windshield, I prefer Aquapel but it's hard to get in Toronto so I use RainX.

I would apply RainX all around but it's hard to apply so I use UQW for side/rear windows.

BTW. Can someone suggest an easier way to apply RainX?

I have waxed all my windows many times without any issues.

As mentioned, the wax on the front windscreen doesn't last that long due to the wiper blades wiping over it, so I just use UQW after every wash!

I accidently oversprayed UQW on glass when I was finishing a customers car. I was expecting it to be a mess but it actually made the glass streak free and somehow shinier. I use it all the time to give an extra edge to the detail.

i think most of us here wash & detail our vehicles soo often....slappin a bit of UQW on the windows to maintain the repellin ability would be easy?? Takes me like 1-2 mins per window??
I know guys who slap on a bit of Collinite 845...last a long time....but a bit more work than UQW....
I know once I use up my RainX I will use my Syn x-press spray wax on the windows
UQW & Syn X-press spray wax is the best product out since sliced bread

Collinite 476s (paste) lasts much longer than Collinite 845, but I agree with many who have used UQW on their windshields. I just like the longevity of Collinite better. Yes, it takes more work, but considering you have to apply UQW every couple weeks, it balances out in the end.

I used RainX once and did not like it. The last few times I have put my favorite M16 on the windshield, and the stuff is amazing. The water just rolls off and I rarely use the wipers. When I do, they are perfect, no chatter, no haze, no missed spots and seems to last forever. Rainx had all of those problems and did not last through a good downpour.

I am no expert, but a friend's car had a finely scratched windshield which scattered the the light when the sun was low in the sky.

I accidentally got lazy and some QW on the glass at the same time, so I just polished it in. Later, my friend said I had "fixed" the problem.

So I started using UQW....didn't work. The QW might have been a fluke, so I am going to start experimenting. Think I read that QW has carnuba, maybe it fills the micro-scratches?

By the way the QW lasted quite a while.
