HELP: PC 7424XP / Soft Buff 2.0

Hi guys,

I just got a PC 7424xp and I want to use Meguiar's Soft Buff 2.0 pads. Let me know if this combination is OK before I buy them:

1. PC 7424xp
2. Meguiar's DA Backing Plate for 7" 2.0 Pads (W68DA)
3. Meguiar's Soft Buff 2.0 7-Inch (yellow and black pads)

Also do I need to change the counter balance?

All your combo is correct. The counter balance weight will depend on which one it comes with, to which I'm not sure.

it says "use 5 inch pad only" but it comes with a 6" polishing pad; I think the 5 inch limit is for the backing plate???

Not sure this helps with your particular discussion or not. Not sure you stated what size counterweight was on your PC. I have a SP and XP and I don't remember which came with what size, but I don't use 7" pads either.

You will not have any problems using our W68DA backing plate and Soft Buff 2.0 pads with your Porter Cable.

You shouldn't have any problems using the counter weight that came with your DA.

The diferent weight options are more for when you are using sanding discs. Remember these DAs started their life as a sander.
