  • What wax to use for painted/machined clearcoated wheels?

I just purchased a new set of wheels for my vehicle and they are gloss black with machined accents. I suspect the wheel is clearcoated. I had intended on coating the wheels with NXT 2.0 wax as I do the rest of the vehicle before installation, but was wondering if there was a better solution?

Some manufacturers claim to use a plastic polish/wax on the wheels then a spray wax detailer for further protection.

    What would you recommend?

A wax will wear off wheels pretty fast compared to paint, just a very harsh environment down there.

Nxt 2.0 or the new Ultimate Wax will likely be your best bets. They would be fine on metal or clear coat.

You can certainly use a spray wax or detailer, or re-wax after future washes.

So the NXT 2.0 will work fine and not cause any issue with the clear coat?

Can I use the ultimate detailer between waxings?

NXT 2.0 will not damage anything.

Yes, you can use UQD (Ultimate Quik Detailer) between waxings.

Yes, all the waxes are clear coat safe. The clear coat on the wheels will be a little different than the clear coat on the body, but the wax will be safe for both.

You certainly can use UQD as well. Look at #135 in the Pro Line if you use a lot.

Collinite 476s is one of the most durable waxes you will find. Also, go easy when using any type of acid based wheel cleaners. If they are really nice, I'd always hand wash.
