  • 12v pump set up

so im building a trailer and i need to have a 12v pump to have water flow but my question is do i run it off a battery and if i do how long will the charge last?
im getting a gen too but i don't want to have to run a dc pump off a gen cause i would have my pressure washer an gen running and thats a waste of gas. thanks guys!

I have a shurflo on demand 12v pump in my trailer. Works awesome! On demand is where you spray water the pump turns on, when you stop spraying the pump shuts off as opposed to the pump constantly running. You will have to run an independent power wire direct from the vehicles battery with a fuse close to the battery. My enclosed trailer had a 4 prong connector for the lights so I changed it to a 6 prong connector. Now when I plug in the trailer running lights the water pump is powered up as well. I only have 1 plug to connect the trailer to the tow vehicle.

Also I never had an issue of draining the vehicles battery. My pump really doesn't run that long when I detail being an on demand pump. Total running time is probably 4 minutes per detail.

hey thanks for your input, I ended up buying a Honda pressure washer with a triplex piston comet pump. I love it but was a pricey investment!
