Some Porter Cables come with a pad that is only, or marginally, good for putting a microfiber bonnet on. At the beginning of my apprenticeship I used a microfiber bonnet to remove m07 polish. Ugh, what a mess.
A thin coat of wax usually comes off very easily.

I always use the d/a for wax removal. i use a cutting pad with a microfiber bonnet. Works great.
Really? That's interesting. I guess I just enjoy the hands on aspect of wiping the final stage off by hand. Sort of a final seal of approval. I assume you still have to do the edges, cracks and crevices by hand?
It looks like you only use the DA Buffer to apply the wax & you still have to wipe it off BY HAND.
Is this correct ?
The tool is used for the heavy part of the job. When removing defects, it's the physical working of the paint cleaner against the paint that gets the job done, and that's the labor intensive portion of the job. Using the tool takes almost all of the elbow grease out of the equation, and wiping off the residue is nothing compared to working the product against the paint.
When simply apply a wax or sealant, the tool makes it incredibly easy to lay down a very thin and uniform coat. Once the wax dries/hazes, wipe off by hand with a microfiber towel is incredibly easy. If removal of the hazed wax is labor intensive, you've done something wrong - applied too heavy (very common mistake) or didn't allow sufficient dry time.
Some people do like using a microfiber bonnet over a foam pad for wax removal, while others find it more of a pain since they usually have to go back over tighter areas with a towel anyway. But if you like the process, great. If not, that's great too. Use whatever method works best for you.
