I am experimenting with different types of lighting for detailing in my garage. I use fluorescent lights for general lighting and then halogens for when I need to polish paint.
I know everyone seems to use fluorescent lights, however I really don't like the way they light up the car. First of all they cast a ton of shadows which means I easily miss some spots when washing or removing wax. Secondly they don't do much to show the true condition of the paint.
I was thinking of ditching them and putting in lots of regular compact fluorescent light bulbs instead which appear to show swirls and other imperfections much better, you can even see some holograms with them in my experience.
I was curious if anyone else shares my opinion and what others use for lighting.
Thanks!
