    da or rotary

    im trying to get into this detailing abit more serious

    ive used a rotary before to remove sanding marks
    but i dont want to spend all that money

    is it possible to remove sanding marks up to 1000grit with a da polisher?
    it would take much longer wouldnt it? the only reason im aiming more towards the da is cuz its cheaper and so i wont burn my paint lol

    but which would be the best da and is it possible to do anything u would be able to do with the rotary?

    There are many factors to consider: factory paint vs. fresh paint, paint thickness, paint hardness and quality of sanding paper.

    Normally to remove 1000 grit sanding marks you would use aggressive compound (like M105, M95), rotary buffer and wool or foam cutting pad.

    If you would refine 1000 grit marks with 2000/ 3000 grit sanding paper then you have a better chance to put a DA polisher into successful work and fully remove those marks, including deepest tracers.

    If you plan to work on small area you could give it a try with DA. If you want to sand an entire vehicle or large panels rotary buffer will do the work much faster and more effectively.

      I would go with a DA. The advent of M105 and the new microfiber DA buffing pads, the cutting capabilities of a DA has increased dramatically.

        What type of work would you be doing that would require removing 1,000 grit sanding marks?

        As others suggested, it is always a better idea to follow that - preferably with increments of 500 or so - all the way to 3,000. This way there is far less chance of leaving grooves/tracers etc, and it will be much easier to compound and polish it out.

            wetsanding ..i did it to my car with a friend with 1000grit followed by 2000grit

            but with a rotary

            but i think ill now get the da g110v2

            to start ill be using that

              Get a Harbor Freight rotary for the tough stuff, or get a good rotary and a dynabrade adapter
