How to apply Cleaner Wax Paste

Hi,

I have bought a Mg Cleaner Paste Wax. I would like to know the right way to apply this product. I assume it is a bit different with Wax?

I intend to apply the product using hands. Does it need some pressure? Do I work on a small panel first? Does it need time to dry before buffing? Does it require more than 1 application?

Is it ok to apply LSP Wax afterwards? If yes, how long should I wait before applying the Wax?

Secondly, the reason I intend to use this product is because my car has a light scratch and light water spots on the HOOD. But to me these seem not serious since those scratch and water spots are not even visible if you are not looking at it from the right angle and have your eyes closely on the HOOD.

Am I using the right product for the above problem?

Lastly, compared to ScratchX or SwirlX (I read from other threads that SwirlX is lighter in terms of the abrassive nature compared to ScracthX?), how different is this Cleaner Wax? I suppose CleanerWax has some abbrassive characteristic too?

You want to apply the cleaner/wax using the included foam applicator. Rub the applicator against the wax so that the surface of the foam pad has a little wax on it. Proceed to rub the wax onto the paint using light pressure and rubbing a little longer than you would if you were using a non cleaner/wax.

The reason being that the cleaner/wax has a light amount of diminishing abrasives (they won't scratch your finish) that will remove very very slight imperfections from the paint. It also has chemical cleaners that will remove previous layers of wax.

The cleaner/wax willl probably not be enough to remove the scratch since the cleaners are so light. You may want to look for Swirlx, Scratchx, or Ultimate Compound (typed from least to most aggressiveness). The cleaner/wax may remove the waterspots but it may not. Waterspots can be very tricky to remove completely since some are actually etched into the paint surface. These can be treated like scratches using the same products and techniques.

Cleaner wax requires a bit more working time than a straight wax in order to take advantage of the cleaning capability. Years ago, my favorite wax was Classic Slipstream, a very hard paste wax. The directions on the can were to rub until a shine was visible through the residue. Pretty good gauge IMO.

I also agree with Shawn. After your first coat you can apply a second thin coat of your choice. I use to use the cleaner wax with Gold Class. looks great.

Some more questions, do I need to wait the CleanerWax dry before buffing?

After finish applying the CleanerWax, do I need to wait for sometime before applying my Wax?

Treat the cleaner wax like any other. Let dry to a haze before removing.

As long as you wait 20-30 minutes before applying second thin coat of wax. You will be fine.

Hi Guys, just want to let you know I have just applied the cleaner wax on my hood and it seems good at removing ONLY some of the fine scratches and water spots. I still have several scratches visible.

However, you can only see the scratches if you have your eyes looking at it closely with good lights. If you just stand in front of the hood, you won't see it.

Now I am wondering should I continue my work? If yes, definitely I will need some stronger product which I believe in this case is the Mg Scratch 2.0. But, I realize that the product is quite aggressive and potentially remove some of the clear coats / paints??

I purchased the Scratch X 2.0 though today. If I would like to use it by hand, what applicator pad is suitable for this? I have the yellow foam pad that comes with the CleanerWax, some white pads that I am not sure what the fabrics are, and I just bought also microfiber applicator pad today.

I would try and find a foam applicator to use. The cleaner/wax paste comes with a foam applicator so if you just wash it you can use it to apply Scratchx 2.0.

Any scratch remover on the market removes some paint if it truly removes scratches. That is the only way to remove a scratch. The amount removed is miniscule indeed but removed nonetheless.

You may even need Ultimate Compound if the scratch is very stubborn. You want to work with some passion and pressure over the scratch. It's not a wipe on, wipe off product but a wipe on,work in and then remove product. Do not let it haze before removal. After you have worked it in, immediately remove it.
