  • A noob question

I dont found in internet the explanation of a DA. Ok DA is Dual Action, Dual action is Orbital? Or orbital is different. I know That orbital is the pad moving in a orbital track and it can rotate freely. DA is the same?

Cant find a good diagram after a quick search.

The Orbital has a 'head' that rotates the pad.

The DA has a 'head' that rotates the pad, and the head unit also revolves around a central axis.

      Re: A noob question

I'm sure someone will correct me if I am incorrect but DA or dual action indicates that it operates like a woodworking sander that is random orbital. I hope this helps and I hope it is correct because I purchased one a few weeks back but haven't had a chance to use it yet because of weather being too chilly yes even here in Florida it is chilly! Good Luck

        Re: A noob question

Orbital only will spin on one axis. (Hopefully I am not confusing you) I will just spin clockwise or counterclockwise. Like in a circle and that is all it does. But with a DA it orbits and it oscillates. So as the pad goes around in a circle it will also have another action going on at the same time. In an effort to try and explain this more. On a DA there is a screw which holds the pad on and in the Meguairs edition a yellow piece of metal above that in the shape of a circle. Lets pretend though that instead of a circle it is an octagon. So as the pad spins clockwise the screw (for discussion sake) will hit and spin at each one of the points of the octagon. You can also try searching on Youtube to see if they have videos explaining the action of a DA or just watch one in action. I hope this helps.
