  • #9 Vs #82

#9 and #82 sound like they do the same thing with the same aggresivness rating on the front of the bottle. What's the difference? I plan on using #9 on my truck but wondered what the difference is???

#82 Swirl Free Polish offers a tad more cleaning ability than the #9 Swirl Remover 2.0 Most people wouldn't notice a difference.

If you do a search there are a lot of discussions on this question.

Does #82 have more polish in it than #9 or are they the same except for cleaning ability. SO basically is #82 more of a cleaner polish where as #9 is a cleaner that should be followed up by a polish??

I did a small test of #9 on a friends car. He used a rubbing compound to remove a scratch. Well the compound left a dull trail behind. I used MPPC, #9, and #83 if I recall. This was before I purchased #80 or #82. MPPC did a slightly better job than #9 of removing the marring (I was shocked). The #9 did do some work to remove the marring. I used 50/50 alcohol and water to remove any oils left behind to check my work. The marring was reduced but would require several passes. Now for the #83, it was a workhorse. In 2 passes the marring was virtually gone. I again did the 50/50 check of my work and yep the marring was gone. I even got down to some of the scratch.

My point is #9 will do some swirl removal. Maybe not as quickly as I wanted.

I have yet to compare #9 vs #82. I really stopped using them both after buying #80.

Hope you find this a little helpful.

#82 has more cleaning ability than #9

They are both cleaner/polishes and after using them you have the option of using a pure polish, or go straight to wax.

Shouldnt I try the least aggresive first and if that doesnt do it, then move up or are #9 and #82 so close it really wouldnt matter? The paint is in real good condition, 2004 silverado I bought right after Thanksgiving, always washed with GC and waxed twice with NXT.

What particular flaw or defects are you trying to remove from the new trucks paint?

The answer will help determine what polish to use.

I think I'm going to use #9, which was my original Idea, Mike says that #82 has a tad bit more cleaning power(swirl remover) than #9. My truck finish isn't bad by anymeans, I just want it to be as best as possible, lots of shine, protection, gloss, you know look amazing.

What color truck?... Sorry I forgot to ask.

If a dark color then #9 would give nice depth and gloss.

When I bought my new black truck it had minor swirls (cob webs) and I used #80 right off the showroom floor. I had a specific problem I was trying to fix.

Black, I think I'm going with the #9. Seems like the right product.
                        Thanks
