  • Removing Gas Stain

There is a gas stain from the previous owner on a 1990 Harley Fat Boy my dad has. I'm assuming it is single stage paint but I am not positive. Is there anything that will help short of repainting? It is the first model year of the Fat Boy and is somewhat of a collector bike. I have SwirlX and UC but wanted to ask before trying anything. I tried to post a pic but am not allowed (too few posts maybe). Thanks in advance.

You have to upload the pic to your album here, then insert it.

But depending how bad, starting with SwirlX might be all you need.

Well, wont be able to work on the decal, but yeah, I'd definitely try some SwirlX on the paint.

The MoCo used BC/CC on most production bikes since the mid 80s. Test a small spot with Swirl X and see if you get any color on your applicator pad. I'd bet not.

That gas stain ought to clean right up with Swirl X. Gotta be careful around that logo, that's about the only model that H-D didn't clearcoat over it.
