Our washing machine has a place to put rinsing aids. I fill if full when doing a load of microfibers. I don't use vinegar every time, perhaps every second or third time.

I've never noticed a vinegary odor or anything else detrimental from vinegar. I suppose using too much may result with a problem.

Do a google search, you'll find many resources mentioning vinegar, plus all sorts of other commercial products for the care of microfibers. Remember they are one of the more important tools (and expensive tools) of your trade, as many processes require microfibers. Right up there with buffer pads...oops another how to clean topic!!

Wow, what a great night. I get to agree with a bunch of knowledgeable folks.

I'm a bargain hunter, because I do this as a hobby. Some of the towels I buy are in plastic bags and some of those bags have "feel me holes" and usually the towel is dirty in that hole from everyone and their grandmother has handled the bag. Or the towel has set on the shelf for weeks/months and is dusty.

I've said this somewhere else, but I bought some blue towels I didn't think would amount to much. However a few washes and rinses with vinegar, they are now great.

Some towels you buy even have a tag that says launder before first use. (don't forget to carefully remove tags) Whether a microfiber towel or a waffle weave I launder them first.

    Wash'm, rinse'm with vinegar and use'm. Can't go wrong.

Not sure how washing them when they are not dirty will ruin their performance.

And the distilled vinegar that Colin mentioned does work well.

As stated already, its up to you whether or not you want to wash your applicator pads before using them or not.

No, it won't ruin their performance. During the rinse cycle, put about a cup of distilled vinegar in. It will help them keep their absorbing properties. Don't believe me? See how they perform after washing a few times.

yeah i bought the magnet from detailing.com so when it comes to the water magnet it will absorb some water in the washer. so ring it out then toss it in the dryer. can i wash it will microfibers? myabe some applicators? or on its own?
