  • waxing!

many people argue that waxing by machine is better than doing it by hand or the other way around. I myself never done it by machine but I really want to. What do you guys think is better to do, by hand or machine??

    Re: waxing!

It will be faster for you to finish the waxing process in a car.
Also for me is easier to apply a thin coat of wax with the DA because i just let the machine do all the Job. Set it up on speed 2-3 and a finishing pad.

    And your good to go!

I vote for machine, but if you like old school ( i also do to )... thats ok.

        Re: waxing!

For waxing you want to use a Finishing Pad, the black one if we are talking about the Soft Buff 2.0 serie of pads.

ask as much as you want, ill be more than happy to help you.

IMHO, it would be a waste of money to purchase a DA just for waxing purposes. The DA comes into its own for safe but effective paint correction. Waxing is a bonus. In any case, if you are purchasing Meg's pads, you will want to get at least three or four yellow polishing pads and a couple of black finishing pads. You would use the finishing pads for waxing.

I prefer paste waxes myself and I enjoy the aesthetic experience of hand waxing. But that's just me.

                  Re: waxing!

Applying a thin coat wax is a great bonus of the d/a. It is a time saver also.

Get the d/a for all of its benefits.

                    Re: waxing!

Heck even if you are only going to use it for applying wax, I still think a DA would be worth it. If you are going to regularly be waxing your car then it is gonna save you a heck of a lot of time in the long run. It will also make removing it easier because as the others said, a DA traditionally lays down a thinner layer of wax.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                    I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.

                      Re: waxing!

It is much easier to apply a thin, even coat of wax with the DA, but I also love the therapeutic benefits of applying a quality paste wax by hand. I typically apply #21 via the DA and top it with #16 by hand. Best of both worlds.

                        Re: waxing!

if you want a machine to just apply wax and or paint cleaner, then why not just get a cheapo RO buffer.
