  • Inground dirt under gas flip lid

    Hi All,

When I was filling up with gas tonight and flipped the gas lid, I noticed a heap of ingrained dirt in there. What would be the best way to remove this?

Looks pretty stuck on, not convinced it would come off with car wash.

    Any suggestions?

    Clarky

Clean rag, apc, clean it up, then wax. Then in the future, just maintain till you do a complete detail on the vehicle again.

I use a boar's hair lug nut brush I purchased from Autogeek and Meguiar's All Purpose Cleaner.

A common mistake that people make when trying to design something completely foolproof is to underestimate the ingenuity of complete fools.

Thanks all, APC I have not been able to locate here in Australia, but I can get another brand of all purpose cleaner to do the trick. Thanks for the advice.

Make sure you gas cap is on tight before rinsing

+1 The best and only way. I also use a small square of sponge cut from a grout sponge. Once it's done, just keep it clean with a quick wipe of a mitt during your wash cycle.

...and you follow the directions for any dilution the product might need to be safe on paint.
