  • Cure time question

    Hi Everyone,

I have been using UQD n UQW n know that about 12 hours is needed to cure for max benefit of the hydrophobic formula. My question is there a way to accelerate the curing process? Over here in a tropical country it can rain anytime of the day.. I was thinking if upon complete application of either UQD or UQW can i then park in the sun to 'accelerate' the curing process?

    TIA!

    Re: Cure time question

good day! i'm from the tropics.. hehe.. anyway, i know the issues you have with polymer waxes that need that certain cure time. It can speed up the curing process, but i don't think the difference in cure time would be big. It would still be several hours. I think the bigger issue would be the humidity level when UQW or UQD is applied versus the weather conditions after the said products were applied. And the UQW and UQD are maintenance products (for in between wax/wash) and not "the WAX" that provides the optimum protection. I would be concerned with the humidity/weather/cure time with NXT 2.0/ultimate wax/sealants since these are the waxes that ultimately give the protection to the paint. I think there is one thread here whre Mike Phillips explained the cure time concerns with NXT/Ultimate quik wax. The problem is i can't remember where i read it!

In my experience, these synthetic spray waxes aren't that sensitive. My experience with other synth wax (FX and reflections spray) is that once applied, it bonds nicely to the paint. And it gets slicker even after only a couple of hours even if their is an ideal cure time. It's quite similar to UQW which a recently used.

12 hours is the ideal cure time, following that will no doubt yield maximum benefits. But thats mother nature for you. It can rain hard a couple of minutes after you've detailed your car for a few hours.. But in my obserevation, the difference between giving 12 hours cure time and giving less cure time is negligible. The real difference is whether you rinse off the crud from you UQW'd paint immediately or not. If you dinse it immediately before it dries, you'll be surprised to see the wax/shine is still there, 100%.

      Re: Cure time question

I love UQW and to be honest, I have never had a exp where the product would not work if not fully cured. It still did it's job admirably. I did have a chance to wax and let NXT 2.0 cure by itself and it did a fine job. Both cars are due for a wash so I suspect I will wash and boost accordingly. Since now we will be heading into the dreaded winter here.

UQW is good, your in good hands with UQW and UQD.. I would instead focus on keeping the car clean and remove any contaminants before it bonds to the paint and become a pain to remove. enjoy your UQW and UQD products!
