  • Really Bad Surface Contaminants

Hey guys, I'm working on a lip kit with REALLY bad contaminants. I clayed a small area (3in x 3x) and had to re-mold the clay probably 5-6+ times and it was BAD each time.

Is there an "easier" way to remove these? I will be doing some paint correction on these with my DA using M105 or UC, will that remove them?

If claying is the best/only way, I'll just continue what I'm doing but at this pace it's going to take a long time and a lot of clay...Just seeing if it's even necessary. Thanks in advance.

Do some cleaning with the 105/UC first, then come back and clay.

Which clay did you use? the clay with the smooth surface clay kit? You could always try to pick up some of the pro line clay if you have the time to wait, if not I would just use some 105/uc as murr suggested above and see how it feels after that.

Yah, it was just the stuff from the SS kit. I have plenty of time so I could order a more aggressive clay and try that out. I've got some touch up paint going on some areas and will have to wet-sand them and buff it all back so I think I'll do that process first like murr suggested and then come back and clay afterwards if needed.

        Thanks guys.

You could look at a more aggressive clay, alternatively you could look at a paint decontamination product. There's one that comes to mind call IronX/Iron cut. Despite the name it has a multiple of uses. The people I know that have used this product have used it on wheels to good effect.

          It's also PH neutral.

That Iron Cut stuff looks like the Sonax wheel cleaner.

It has no similarities with Sonax wheel cleaner.
