  • what to use on this?

what would you use to fix this pant? looks to me like the paint is oxidized and its making the clear look like ****. i was thinking a starting point with meg 205 with a blk pad then work to a yellow pad or a 105 with a yelow pad followed with 205 with blk pad or is the 105 to much?

In the lower image it looks as though someone started working on it and made some decent headway, is that correct? In the top shot though, what's up with the random glossy areas? There's a spot on the far left of the image that looks like a drip - is there moisture on the surface of the panel that has been wiped off?

If this is, in fact, just oxidized paint, then Ultimate Compound is likely to be the product of choice to start with, most likely on a yellow polishing pad via D/A. We'd do a test spot with that and proceed from there, depending on the results of the test.

The clear looks likes it faded. The bottom image shows how the paint looks like when a area is wet.

        Looks like oxidation to me.

What polishes or compounds do you have on hand? Or do you plan on picking stuff up?

        What about polishers/buffers and pads?

That should take care of it.

If that paint is really dried out then it may not like M105 too much, and you may not like using it. Ultimate Compound is going to give you a much longer buffing cycle on a D/A here, and with a lot less dust.

Something else to consider, if your paint is really dried out, try putting on a coat of pure polish and let it set overnight before you try to work on it. What this can do is bring a little of the life back to the color without having to remove a layer of the CC to do it.
