  • Color X or Cleaner Wax?

    Hi guys!

Since both are under the cleaner/wax category found here >> http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38728

Which one does a better job especially for a black color car?

ColorX is more of a finishing polish/ very light swirl remover than a wax I think? You should follow it up with NXT gen techwax 2.0 or GC carnauba wax - go to the Giant mega-store, they may still have the specials on at the moment for Meguiar's products! I bought heaps

Both ARE cleaner wax products, but ColorX will offer a bit more defect removal ability.

Given that all Meguiar's consumer cleaner waxes are still very safe to use and not abrasive (in the sense that they leave damage behind), if you are looking for a little extra shine on a modern clearcoat the ColorX is your best bet.

thanks mate, thus by applying another coat of NXT over it, will be hide the extra shine?

I live in Singapore lol, yeah it is expensive everywhere outside USA, but the prices at Giant were definitely very reasonable i.e. 30-40% retail

Adding NXT 2.0 over any cleaner wax should help add protection, and might add a change in the appearance. It varies by car and prep work.

But you don't HAVE to add NXT 2.0 immediately after a cleaner wax. You could always add it after a wash or two.

I bought a bottle of color x with good results, the protection seems to hold up good as well

I use ColorX a couple of times a year mostly for it's cleaning ability. I usually apply NXT about a month or so after using ColorX. No hurry...ColorX provides pretty good protection on its own. I honestly cannot tell the difference when I add a coat of NXT

Make sure you do it during early hours of the morning if you don't have a closed carport as we all know how hot and humid it is here (which may or may not affect the final result)
