  • Megs 2010 UK price increase

Is there a possibility that Megs will review this?

The reason I ask is because although I'm a fan of cirtain products, the problem is that some 'copies' have come to the market which are either very similar, or in some instances look the same but are better.

By copies I don't mean Mr Wangs Chinese Bootlegs, but other named brands. For instance my fave megs products are the Soft Buff 2 pads. These cost £13 each here. I just bought some very similar pads for a set of 3 for £22. A saving of £17.

Obviously I would much prefer to use Meguiars branded items, but a saving of £17 isn't to be sniffed at.

Have you actually used and compared the pads to Meguiars? Many other companies out their that make foam pads, but not all are equal.

Yep, I could post up a pic and I think you'd be hard pressed to tell the difference.

That's one example, amongst a few I could name. For instance the megs wheel brush, costs about £9 here, but a very similar one can be had for £3. I'm told the £3 brush lasts longer.

I appreciate that Megs products will always cost a little more, but this is more about the decision to increase at the begining of 2010. Others such as Zymol and Chemical guys didn't, and as such pushed the Megs range into the premium bracket. Since then the exchange rate has risen also.

Right on. Don't think I've ever seen a foam pad that even looks similar to the Megs Soft Buff 2 here in the US.

Meguiars is having a similar problem here in Australia with pricing 3 times higher then in the US.

I suggest Megs look for a new distributor in Australia, as their prices are ridiculous, and a lot of people from here are now ordering from US direct.

Can you imagine paying $33 for UP here whilst it cost $7.99 in US.

          Ridiculous isn't it?!?

I'm just getting all my Meguiars direct from the US now. You'd be crazy not to - especially with how strong our dollar is at the moment.

Meguiars Australia will probably get the message soon...

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

I have to say the same about Spain. There's a no bashing rule in this forum and I'll refrain from writing about the problems with our local Meguiar's here. And their products are way too expensive too.

One of the stores I buy Megs from actually buy's froma major distributer in the US as opposed from Megs EU. By doing it this way he sells his products at a much lower price.

For instance I pay about £6 for NXT Glass Cleaner as opposed to £9 for officially imported products.

The down side is he only stocks cirtain items, mainly the Megs consumer range. I also think the increase was instrumental in Halfords largely dropping the Megs range.

                  Same problem in Brazil.
For example, NXT 2.0 is BRL80,00 or USD45, 3 times US price on average.

Last time I bought from PAC. Is cheaper even considering fees and shipment.

Yes, PAC or AG are the way to go - even after shipping it works out chepaer than buying locally.
