  • Correct Order? Wash>Clay>Polish>Wax>Swirl X?

Im new to detailing my car just a FYI it's a DULL RED color Nissan Altima Coupe.

Eversince i got this car BRAND NEW from dealership, the paint was never like the SHINY one, it's more of like a dull red color. Idk if the dealership used crappy paint or what.

but anyways im start detailing my car from now on.

    I was wondering if WASH>clay>polish>wax>swirl x
    is in the right order.

    I don't think you need swirl x.
    Wash
    clay
    polish
    wax should be enough.

Wash, clay, swirl x, polish, wax. If the car is dull try getting Color x, makes the paint shinny again.
So wash, clay, color x, polish, wax.

OK about the sequence, but, does "color x" works well with black paint to?

          Fender,

Probably you read the Meguiar's 5-Step paint care and maybe you missed the point below:

"Paint cleaners remove everything off the surface of the paint including wax, so after using a paint cleaner you must re-apply a protective coating of wax "

SwrilX is a paint cleaner. You should use before polish.

            1. Wash
            2. Clay
            3. SwirlX
            4. Wax
            5. Wax - 2 thin coats is best.

ColorX would work on any color paint. It is just a bit stronger of a cleaner/wax.

Though SwirlX would be stronger, so probably better if you are going to do a multi-step detail, try for better results, anyway.

                Hey Murr,

How do you determine how much wax would be sufficient for a thin coat? is it just applying small amounts and working it into a small area, rather than putting a thick coat and working across an entire panel at a time?

Thin is in. Wax should be very thin, even. Color-x will work on any color car.

Usually dont want to put a lot in one spot and try to spread it, doesnt really spread like you would hope.

Once the pad has wax soaked into it some, you can apply some wax the pad, then press it in a couple spots, and spread.
