  • SwirlX not enough

I dont mind using SwirlX, but its not getting all the marks out. I definitely saw improvements and figured it was good enough for now until I ran out. After using it on a black BMW I saw more marks then with my truck. Im using it with a PC7424 XP and a white LC CCS pad. Should I switch products or use a different pad?

    Cars:
    2005 F150 Dark Shadow Gray
2009 BMW X5 Black (Pretty sure its the Black Sapphire Metallic)

There are a lot of other variables like speed, pressure and work-in but at this point I would try Ultimate Compound with the white pad and go to orange if needed. The more aggressive you have to get with it the more likely you'll need to come back with Swirlx to finish out after the UC.

As K3ith said do a test spot with Ultimate Compound. It should remove all the defects. You may need a follow up with cleaner/ polish (SwirlX, Ultra Finishing Polish M205) or pure polish (Deep Crystal Polish, Show Car Glaze M7) to restore gloss after.
I assume it's Black Sapphire Metallic as Jet Black is much softer BMW paint.

I would use Meguiar's 105 Compound (Yellow or Orange pad - Speed 5) followed by Meguiar's 205 Polish (Black pad - Speed 3), then put a good coat of wax or sealant on the car.

I have a black Corvette and this is the process I learned with Mike Stoops at his Meguiar's Open Garage class.

The car came out great and I am very difficult to please!

        Good luck!

Thanks for the replies guys! If I used the 105+205 combo would I need to use Deep Crystal Polish as well (already have Deep Crystal Polish)?

            Re: SwirlX not enough

You should be able to go right from M205 to a sealant like M21 2.0 or a pure wax like M26 or Gold Class.
            Best Regards,
            Scott
