  • Wax removing !

    Hi,

1)Is the advantage of Nxt 2.0 over carnauba wax and gold class that its protect the paint from UV rays ?

Or all the three deliever the same level of protection ?

    2) what is the best to remove the wax before re-waxing ? is it claying or can use some thing else ?

    Thanks,

    1. Not really... most would use 2 coats of Nxt or Gold Class over the Nxt.

As far as UV rays, what you want to do is keep the paint healthy by keeping it clean, and putting polishing oils on. With the paint healthy, the UV protection in it will last a long as possible.

    2. It would be good to clay and use a mild cleaner (Deep Crystal Cleaner or SwirlX) or cleaner/wax (Cleaner/Wax or ColorX).

If you are using a separate cleaner and wax as opposed to a cleaner wax, to be absolutely certain there is no residual wax or cleaner/correction byproducts on your vehicle before sealing or waxing you can use a wipedown with a 50/50 mixture of 90% IPA/distillled water or mineral spirits.

Sorry but I am a bit confused here. I was assuming that to re-wax and to completely remove the earlier wax coat, simply repeat the entire 5 step process. Coz when you repeat the process, the car is washed, clayed and with the help of SwirlX or other cleaner compound, it is ready for a fresh new coat. Pls correct me if I am wrong

For cleaning and waxing without removing much in the way of defects, you can get away without using an IPA or mineral spirits wipedown. When you are removing defects, the defects can fill up with a combination of product and paint and appear to be fixed, when they in actuality are not. That's when you need to do an IPA or mineral spirits wipedown after you correct each section before you move on to the next to make sure you have made the correction needed. While it is not listed in the 5 Step Cycle, the only way to make sure that paint and product residue is not present after the correction step and before the wax/sealant is applied is to do a wipedown first.

Like most things, you can go as far as you want. If you want to check every panel after correction with IPA, you can. Or you can check the first panel, and do the rest of the car the same way. Or you can clean/polish and move on. Just up to you, and what you feel like checking on.
