  • Wax and polish???

    Hi

#7- polish. (It sounds hard to use- (2 out of 3 system is easier to use)
    #16- Wax or P21S

    Which is more durable???

Is #26 any good as a wax or better???

    Thanks
    Dave

    Hello Dave

Let me start by addressing one of your comments...

#7- polish. (It sounds hard to use- (2 out of 3 system is easier to use)
M-07 Show Car Glaze is actually a tremendous pure polish that is very easy to use. The problem is that it is often misused. To date, I've been very hard pressed to find anything that would yield the results that I've achieved with this product.

The trick is to apply in VERY VERY thin and even coats. Another trick is to utilize a product like Final Inspection when removing the product as it will help out in some situations and is perfectly safe. Further, using a very nice, high-pile 100% cotton-terry towel like the Ultra Plush Super Terry will help to break the surface on the SCG so that removal is a snap.

Please don't be hesitant to give this product a try. It's really a great polish that yields world class results when used properly! Most all of my customers get a coat of #7 and, typically that's all hand applied.

Is #26 any good as a wax or better???
#26 Hi Tech Yellow Wax is a tremendous blend of carnauba and other very fine waxes that yields a deep, rich, and highly reflective protective coating.

Again, #26 is one of my 'staple' products that I'm not sure I could live without. It is a great product!!

I hope that helps out a bit. I'm sorry but I don't know much about P21S nor have I ever tried it. #16 Professional Paste Wax is slated for extinction and production of this product has ceased. While it is a very hard, high-durability last step product, unfortunately, because of environmental regulation, it will be falling to the wayside (SEE THIS THREAD) but, like Mike mentions in that post, newer, easier to use, and better products are available at this point!

      Hey Dave,

As always, RP is very thorough and informative with his response! So, there isn't much more to be added. However, I will add a couple of things.

Yes, #7 is a polish (no durability) that you would want to use under your protective coating (wax or sealant)........... and yes, #7 can be a bit finicky to apply and remove. Therefore, you would want to follow the instructions that RP posted, and read the links to the other threads. Personally, I prefer #81 - Pro Hand Polish to #7 (on clear-coated paints), as it is a bit easier to remove than #81. Both are fine products though.

Also, #26 is a fine carnauba, as is P21S! P21S will give a bit wetter look, while #26 gives a bit deeper/darker look.

I don't think you will go wrong with either, and there are some other good choices.

      Good luck, and have fun!
