  • Just tried SwirlX...

Extremely disappointed! It was so hard to get it on, its very gunky like, feels almost like caulk. And then, the worst part, actually removing it. My arm hurt so much from removing it with a MF towel. I bought this new at walmart, along with a few other products on saturday. I hate to use the term "bad batch" but unless it was that, i will never use this product again. I wish i could find the DC steps locally. I use to love 1 and 2.

I returned the swirlX tonight and got UC, i know its suppose to be more abrasive but i couldnt try the swirlx again. I opened another one at the store(LOL i know) and it looked just as thick as the other one.

cliffs: swirlx, applied by hand, using mf pad, cleaned with mf towel, both extremely difficult. Returned and got UC!

    Thanks

Did you let the SwirlX dry?

Didnt read thru it all but if it matters, the vehicle i tried applying it to is a C6

And yea i dampened the MF towel with QD, but its still too much of a hassle.

Setting aside the troubles you had for a second, did the Swirlx remove the Swirls or otherwise correct the problem in which you needed it?

I do like foam applicators better...

You can try the UC, if you dont apply it with as much passion/energy/time, it will become a bit milder.

Couldnt really see the difference, but then again, the paint in in good condition. I just wanted to "clean" it, im sure when its directly under the sun, i can see swirls but i was in the shade....

                You might just try Colorx.

Is that not a cleaner wax? if so, i have some DC cleaner wax here at home. Would scratchX substitute it?

ScratchX would be a good alternative, yes. It sits between SwirlX and UC in terms of abrasiveness.

...And yes, ColorX is a cleaner wax.

...And Keith, thanks for the link and great tip about using LT or QD on the pad/towel. Not that I've had problems with SwirlX, but I will keep that in mind if I ever do..

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Was your car hot or warm when applying swirl x (either from the sun or from driving). That could be a big reason why it was drying up on you.

I once put swirls in my paint just to see what it looked like.

                      I don't always detail cars, but when I do, I prefer Meguiar's.
                      Remove swirls my friends.

Weird. I've loved SwirlX from the moment I've tried it on my DA and it was my first time using a DA. Great results and easy to use.

I'll have to be careful if/when I use it by hand though, thanks for the heads up.

Im sure a DA would assist greatly in removing. I may have to look into one of those or just an orbital...

I don't use the DA to remove, just to apply.
