  • Upholstery Cleaning Question

    hi.

i have a Kia Soul Plus.

I accidentally spilled a large hot gravy from KFC yesterday.

which is the best product to use to remove it?

im not sure though if its vinyl seating.

    thanks!

Just spilled on the surface, or enough to really soak in to the foam, etc?

i think its enough for it to absorb an ample amount on the seat.
we wiped it with napkins, but i guess its too late.

Well, by hand you would want something like All Purpose Cleaner and a lot of clean cloths.

Just dampen the area, spray on some APC, and press the cloths down to soak up some of the stain. Repeat... repeat... repeat. Dont want to soak the seats, so let them dry a bit, then repeat some more.

There may be taking seat apart, or extractor type options as well, but I havent done any of that.

We spilled hot chocolate on the carpet and were able to remove it with one of those Simonize cans of foaming, carpet and upholstery cleaner with the brush on top of the can.

I would give it the apc treatment.

well...hopefully this weekend i will try the Little Green Machine Proheat i just got from Macys...$75.

i hope that works, coz i saw it here that it might work...if not...
im going to rent the Rug Doctor, im pretty sure that makes a lot of suction power...
its been like 2 weeks now since that incident. last week i already tried the Tuff Stuff stain remover that has foaming action, it removed some, but still theres some stain.

will post some pics. thanks guys!

                Re: Upholstery Cleaning Question

Your best bet is something called a wet and dry vacume. With this it will wet vacume your seats, drawing out all the stains and leave them albeit a little damp but dry enough to sit on.

You could also pre treat with some apc sprayed on and brush it in, then wet vac after.

                  Are your seats cloth?

If so, you could try spot treating the surface with APC at about 4:1, then follow up with a terry cloth agitation.

Agitate with the terry cloth until all the residue is lifted up off of the surface, a good way to know when to stop is when your terry cloth is coming up clean and not lifting the gravy anymore.
