      Re: cleaning cast alloy

I always had issues cleaning rough cast alloys, like 1988 Mustang "Turbine" rims, when stuff gets in the pores, it be comes a major hassle to get clean. I always try Westley Bleech-wite (sp) as it is very forgiving but harsh enough to get the tough stuff off.

To Murri525 the cast alloy in question is smooth cast aluminium and is part of the engine casing for my bike. My apologies for the lack of info in the original question. Thanks BlackScreaminMachine for your help

          Cast Aluminium

Wire brush and C.Quartz IronX or Sonax Wheel Cleaner, both are formulated with neutralised acid and then use P21S® Finish Restorer.

To obtain the best finish power blast with aluminium oxide powder, this will both clean the manifold, and the reside aluminium oxide will coat the manifold, leaving a great finish.

Newbie question - Where would one go to have the blasting done? Body shop? Detailer? DIY with proper equipment? I have a '01 Miata MX5 and would like to 'clean up' the manifold.

Ask your local machine shop, they may do it or know a local company that does
