  • So..the inevitable happened.. how to touch up/fill out a deep scratch?

Right, it happened, the first deep scratch on my 9 months old merc, it's just above the chromed line on driver's door, about 3/4 inch long, isolated and i just don't know when and how it got there...

Alas, it's all gone in vain, months of careful driving, parking, for nothing. Dammit, it's deep, i can easily feel it with my fingernail and my common sense tells me that it's impossoble to polish out. So, any way to touch up/fill out the scratch? i understand the fact that the damage is done, but any way to make it not to hurt my eyes everytime park under the sun?

    THANKS!

    Bucket.

Get some touch up paint that matches the color of your finish.

Thanks, but how do i 'fill' the scratch? I mean, it's still there, do i need to apply a very thin layer of paint every 12 hours or so until it even out the surface?

You could put several layers of primer followed by several layers of touch up paint, 12-24 hours apart. That should fill fit fairly well.

But, if you really wanted to fill then you could Bondo the area. I don't know how much filling you want to do.
