  • Removing paint from scrape

I am getting ready to detail a customers car that has yellow paint on the bumper from scraping a yellow pole. Where is a good place to start to remove it?

    Hi halftun,

Do you have any paint cleaners like,

    Meguiar's Body Scrub
    ScratchX
    Medallion Premium Paint Cleaner
    #2 Fine Cut Cleaner
Deep Crystal Step 1 Paint Cleaner

I have some Meguiar's ScratchX and
Deep Crystal Step 1 Paint Cleaner. Would the ScratchX be the place to start?

I think you should try claying the surface first. If that doesn't work, move onto the cleaner of your choice.

ScrachX worked great. Yellow paint is gone, customer is happy and I am a hero. Thanks

I'm here to tell you that I had the misfortune to have to try this myself. Some ******* at my wife's office doesn't know how wide or long his car is because he traded paint with us Here is the before pictures (After pictures will follow):

              Now for the after pictures:

I had the following on hand and used them all in this order:

              Mother's Scratch Remover
              Body Scrub
              #2
              #7
              Gold Class

I'll have to have a closer look when I get some good light but I'm pretty sure I got it all. Pardon the quality of the pictures - the flash picks up the gold flecks in the paint and makes it look wet. Also my dog decided he should have a close look and his reflection is everywhere.

Congratulations Spotty-Dog...I didn't think that bumper would come out looking that good!
