The paint is hard as h e double hockey sticks. If you are going to polish out any defects you WILL need M105 and follow up with M205. Sorry Megs but for wax I would definitely apply Pinnacle Souveran Paste Wax.

Congrats. I can't imagine it needs 105 being new. I would clay it for sure as it may have been sitting outside. From there you want polish so maybe 80 if you want to clean and polish or maybe just 07 if the paint is in good shape. Then follow with a wax or sealer depending on how often you want to be waxing. NXT 2.0 will last longest, Gold Class plus second, and 26 the least longest.

Pinnacle, as Dubbin suggests, will look good but lasts three weeks tops and, in my opinion, is not adequate as a protection of the clean and polish you just performed. If you want to use 26 or Pinnace S, I'd lay down NXT/21 first and then top with one of them. On the other hand, Gold Class Plus is a good blend and a simple double coat of it after polish will give decent protection and excellent look.

Please do not forget that the most important step is claying. I have got a new black VW too. Also, use the GC car wash for your Black car. Polishing is not necessary on a new Black car. Have fun!

What you need is going to be totally dependent on the condition of the paint, the tools you'll be using, how skilled you are with those tools, and what you ultimately want out of the paint.

As for Corvette's having really crazy hard paint - that seems to be what so many people are saying online but we recently had one in the garage during a Saturday Class that was pretty easy to correct. It had a nasty year old etching from a bird dropping along with a bunch of swirls, and we managed to clean it up beautifully with Ultimate Compound and a W8207 Soft Buff 2.0 polishing pad on a G110v2. This is why test spots are so important!

How will you be working on the car - hand, D/A or rotary? What kind of shape is the paint in currently? Even new cars can sometimes be in serious need of some TLC!
