Re: What do you guys do if it rains?

I did get caught in the rain this afternoon, not pouring but enough that I was able to see the beads of water on my hood. When I got home I simply spent 45 minutes patting the car down with my MF, looks the same as when I left. If the car would've accumulated alot of dust over night I wouldn't have bothered drying/patting it down.

I'm not married but I live with my girlfriend, she doesn't nag me as long as I cook for her.

If I drive my black truck while it's raining, I have to wash the vehicle again, no matter how clean it was to begin with. Edmonton is just too dirty of a city. If the vehicle was parked clean and it rained then a bit of Quik Detailer/Last Touch is all that is needed.

I'm not sure how Toronto compares in cleanliness, but you don't want to be grinding grit into your paint. If in doubt, just take the time to wash it again. This will end up being a lot less work than repairing the paint, then re-waxing.

I finished applying the last coat of wax yesterday around 3:00am, the car was parked in an underground parking lot, I left here at 1:30pm, drove 6km in total in the rain.

Water spots are the bane of my Luthien's existence. I have learned--hard lessons!--that I must do something after a shower. Here's what I now (usually and hopefully) do: I usually wait until the next day, and then I either (a) give Luthien an ONR rinse, or (b) I gently sweep Luthien with my duster and then follow-up with quick detail spray. Or if Luthien was due a real wash, then of course that's what I would do. Hopefully.

FYI: Wash or Wipe after Rain?, When you need a quick wash.

You may not be able to see the dirt...but it is there if you drive in the rain. Micro-marring is caused by large particles of dirt and also those "micro" particles you can't see. Might take you an hour to wash vs. 1/2 hour to QD. To me, the extra 1/2 hour is worth the comfort knowing I am not grinding dirt into the paint.

When I got home I had to start drying the hood first, the heat coming from the engine would've dried up into waterspots in no time. When I had the hood completed I did both quarter panels and then continued on.
