  • This Generator Output Substantial Enough for the G110v2?

Harbor Freight is selling their entry-level 800/900W generator for $89 on black Friday.

    Source:http://slickdeals.net/forums/showthr...readid=2306359

    HF.com specs it out to output 20 amps @ 120V @ 91dB.

    800W/120V = 6.667

Since the G110v2 is a 4.5amp powertool, will this Harbor Freight unit be substantial enough to power my G110v2?

Wouldn't it be awesome if there was a battery powered DA.

It looks like you're gonna get more than enough juice from it. G110v2 wattage is only about 450-500W. You can go mobile with this generator for sure.

+1 you should be good to go with that piece.

I've heard many times that HF is great with regular tools but not so much with power tools. I'd be surprised if that thing lasted that long. Go for it though, you may get a good amount of use out of it!

In all honesty you would be better off finding a used Honda Generator in great condition, rather than spend the money on one of those. Eventually you will need to upgrade to a larger unit, something that will run a shop vac or a rotary...a unit that you can expand with. I have bought used Honda 2500W units for as low as $250.00....check around with some pawn shops or on ebay..In my 25 years of mobile detailing I have always been able to count on Honda....first pull and quiet compared to the others....Either way make sure it has a low oil shut down sensor or its useless.....JMO...

                Thanks for the responses guys.

In all honesty, I was looking for something to power my DA while waiting for my run groups at the track, so cheap & dirty were my highest priorities.
The car club I run with used to use the Honda EU2000 to power the timing equipment and PA system so I know how capable and quiet it is.

I found a few reviews on youtube to get an idea of the HF generator.

But with everything said, I know I'm to crave more power in the future.
David, that Honda you were talking about is the EN2500 right?
