  • Need to find the right buffer

Well, I have been hand waxing my 350z for about five months now, and its becoming a tedious task. Cuorrently, I am happy with the results I am getting by hand waxing with themeguiars gold class paste wax, but would love to take some of the effort out of waxing and get better results. I have been searching for the last hour or so for different meguoars buffers and am somewhat confused. Orbital? Rotary? Size of the buffer pad? Since I am working on a 350z, I would like to go with a smaller buffer with a smaller pad. Whats your favorite meguiars buffer? Reccomedations? Thanks in advance!

I recommend the DA to everybody. You can do a very wide range of work with them and you aren't going to have to worry about burning edges.
The G110V2 and Porter Cable XP are essentially the same buffer with different names on them. I use the Porter Cable and am very pleased with it.
As far as pads go, I am partial to the seven inch pads. The big ones are nice because you can cover more area in fewer passes but on a Nissan Z, they tend to be very curvy so not only would a larger pad be harder to maneuver but you are also going to sling product everywhere.
The Verdict: Porter Cable, 7 inch pads. Total Price: $170-190 (buffer and 3 pads.)

Thanks for the replies. Right now, for size reasons, I am looking at getting the G110V2. Just out of curiosity, did you notice a big difference when switching from hand waxing to using a buffer? By that I mean removing more swirls and having the wax coat look "better"

Huge difference. It literally took the shine/finish up a few notches. I think when you become comfortable with the machine. You will be amazed at the amount of correction work, and how the finish looks. I highly recommend you getting one.

Seems like everyone is out of the G110v2 right now, I could be wrong about that. You can pick one up over at Amazon for $149 and then pick up your pads at ADS.

You're not really going to be removing swirls by just waxing, especially with your Gold Class wax - buffer or not.

If you mean swirl removal by using a polish or compound, then yes, you'll achieve greater correction with the DA buffer.

I find using the DA for waxing is more of a time and effort saver. I can't notice any difference in the final look between hand waxing vs machine waxing.

We can go out for a drive without her makeup and she looks fine. If I want to take the black one out, it is three or four hours in the "bathroom" to get ready.

Yes, I meant using the Ultimate Compound. Didn't really explain myself very well on that one.

I was debating waiting the 15 days to see if a new buffer would come out, but I really don't want to pay over $200 for a buffer with pads. I have a feeling like it is going to be expensive if a new one is introduced for the simple reason it is "new". I could be wrong, but I really don't know
