  • Which product for waterspots?

I was detailing my 93 Toyota PU today..a vehicle that gets used very little...just sits on the driveway 99% of the time (but nice to have when you need to haul something!).

Anyways, I washed, clayed, Ultimate Compound with LC white pad on PC, followed by a couple coats of cleaner wax. It turned out nice except for the water spots.

The weird part was that the vast majority of the water spots were on the drivers side..I started the UC on the passenger side, so I started to thing the pad was loaded up and was causing issues that looked like water spots...cleaned the pad..but the water spots were still there...Then it dawned on me. The truck sits driver side nest to the front lawn....it was the irrigation system spraying the truck on a regular basis..As I said the truck is rarely driven (or detailed) so it gets hit with the water...where it dries and gets not much TLC

So..after that story...What is a good product to take out the water spots? UC didn't do it (but really made the truck shine !)

How long did you work the UC? Were you able to remove swirls with it?

UC should have no problem removing water spots, but it's all in how you work the product. A white pad with UC is a very light polishing combination...I would try UC with an orange LC pad or a purple foamed wool hybrid pad if the etching is really bad.

Worked it until it appeared to be going dry...maybe I should try a bit longer with a more aggressive pad.

Never used UC, but 105 with a wool pad is really effective. Have also had good luck with a DA and orange pad. Work your area slow and in small sections

Well, the next strongest would be #105.... But bumping up the pad is an option.

Hard water can get in there deep. Working by DA?
