New paint

My dad just restored a 57 chevy and along with the process a brand new paint job was completed. The restoration was just completed a couple of months ago.
My question is, what products should be used on an aftermarket paint job. He wants the finish to be preserved, but also have a show car finish. Also, since the orange peel of the clear has already been buffed out, is he good to go with the suds and bucket (with meg car wash products) method or should he do a waterless method first and put a nice layer of wax first.

I see there is a ton of knowledgeable sources posting here and appreciate any and all help.

Something like Gold Class would be a great soap to use.

If he went with single stage paint, #80 Speed Glaze ould be a good choice for a cleaner/polish.

Gold Class+ or #26 are popular classic waxes.

To be honest I'm not exactly sure what "single stage" is. I know the paint and body work (which was very little. No real dents or anything) was considered "show finish" and cost somewhere near $8,000. I'll ask tomorrow if it's single stage. I hope this helps.
I'd have him figure this out but he doesn't know how to turn a computer on.

The paint is base coat clear coat if that helps any.

I should have asked if you'll be working by hand or machine.

Washing as mentioned above, claying, SwirlX or #205 would be a good mild cleaner/polish. then waxing is a fine process.

Or could use something like wash, clay, then Cleaner/Wax then wax for a little quicker detail.

Thank you for the feedback.
I just want to make sure I have this right before I have him out buying products.

Step 1: Wash car with Gold Class soap
Step 2: Claying (if necessary) To check for contaminents, rub bare hand accross the finish and feel for any contaminents?
Step 3: Swirl-x or #205 (If there are no swirls in the paint is this necessary? It is a brand new paint job with either 6 or 8 coats of clear.)
Step 4: Wax with gold class or #26 (Should this be one coat of wax or multiple?)

Also I've read where #26 seems to be superb on darker colored cars. His is the original white over turouise.
How do the two mentioned compare with the NXT line?

If you haven't already, get started using the two-bucket method. All of the great soaps and waxes in the world cannot protect against dirty wash water. It's incredibly simple, one bucket for your soapy water and another bucket full of plain water. After you have ran your wash mitt over your car, run it through the rinse water before putting it back into your wash bucket. If you want to go a step further, purchase some grit guards. They are about $10-15 each and they will keep the dirt you washed off of your car trapped at the bottom of your bucket(s) so you do not get all of that dirt back in the mitt.
IMO, grit guards are almost as important as waxing regularly.

Thank you for the advice. As much money as he's dumped into this car, I don't think he'll cut corners now. I just added it to his shopping list.

The first time, I would pretty much assume claying is needed.

Choosing waxes is kind of up to you... Nxt is best protecting, but I doubt this will be out in too much weather.

I would want some kind of a cleaner... or at least the Cleaner/Wax then wax.
