  • UQW and drying at the same time?

I remember reading about this somewhere, but can't find it now.

Someone said they washed their car, then before drying it, sprayed UQW on and then dried. Does this work? Is it a recommended technique? Will I need to buff with a dry towel after soaking up the water?

You would probably want to spray/dry a section at a time.

You just dry like usual, when the towel gets a bit too wet/damp, get a new one. Not going to use a large amount of UQW, just a light spray like normal.

Have not particularly compared the look of drying then waxing, vs drying and waxing.

I do like to do like Murr1525 does, but with hard water and all, I've been using a shammy to dry the car and then waxing, it is harder to buff off, and does not go as well, but does do the job. Just do NOT perform waxing of any kind on a hot car surface or in the direct sun!

Hmm, we have super hard water here. Maybe I should stick with drying, then spray waxing. I might do a quick test on my tailgate this afternoon.

I have not seen that link but what was posted was a sticky on how it should be done.
          http://meguiarsonline.com/forums/showthread.php?t=26009 (mega list I have)

I have to look for the UQW specific thread but if I recall correctly you would Spray a given area, not too large of a area 2' x 2', use a MF towel to sorta loosely spread the product. Allow a minute or so to haze and then wipe down. I guess the issue was that if you had a dry MF it actually sucked the product up and not actually help it adhere to the surface.

I myself use the same MF so towards the end it becomes saturated enough that there is little chance of overdoing one area and underdoing another.

My techinque is based on drying completely then Spray waxing.

For the record, I usually dry first, then wax.

Re: UQW and drying at the same time?

I tried using UQW as a drying aid once, and it seemed to work okay. But I haven't used it again in this way. I suppose the reason I haven't used it again as a drying aid is because Meguiar's hasn't told me that this is a good thing to do. Clearly it was not formulated to be used in this way. So I just dry my car the normal way and then I apply UQW.

When using UQW I always use the WOWO method. I tried the "let it haze method" twice, and on the second time I got some streaking. I have not experienced any streaking since switching to WOWO.
