    Hey Guys
I really want to thank all of you ( and you know who you are ) who have taken there time and energy to teach me the hows and whys of detailing . I've printed and kept a lot of the post that I felt like could help me in the future. Not only have you taught me about the different Meg. products but you have taught me how to use them. I finally got up enough confidence to take on my first customer. It was a 1997 Lexus 300 ES with only 47000 miles on it! The car looked like it had lived its whole life in a automatic car wash., swirls to be unbelieved . I started with some UC and a orange pad and worked my way down the product list. I was very pleased with my paint correction BUT ....the color of this car was a type of champagne and was very unrewarding in the end . I looked at the paint with a magnifying glass .....and to my surprise I removed almost all the swirls, because of the color of this car you couldn't look at the car in the sun to check for swirls in the traditional method,(it would blind you.) The car was very wet looking but just didn't seem to POP. If I had corrected another darker Lexus in the same manner I feel sure it would have been a much more pleasing outcome to me. Anyway ....I'm beginning to ramble....just thanks to yall for the help and maybe I'll continue to learn......

No doubt that light gold/champagne is usually lacking in drama even after correcting a real mess, but there times when you'll really notice the difference - like under the lights of a gas station at night!!

Some cars are just more exciting to work on than others, and some are just plain frustrating. Wait 'til you get hands on one of those - you'll be wishing you had a drama free car in front of you instead!!!

Here's what ya do. Find one of your friends that has a black car in need of some REAL TLC. Tell them you will detail it for free but just keep that between yourselves. Go to work on it with your new DA and when you are done, you'll have a ton more confidence! It's almost a certainty the car will look 100% better than it did. And don't forget your test spot!

                    Re: lEXUS LET DOWN

Congrats Allman. Any of the lighter colors are hard to "POP". Good starting point though. I started with a Black SS Cobalt. It was a stressful situation but turned out better than I thought. Now, all I want to do are the dark colors. lol. Good luck with everything in the future. Just keep reading and learning. I'm here everyday learning new tricks and loving working on cars.

Thanks so much Sconrad....Its so weird that here I am way down here in GA.and there you guys are scattered all over the place , and each and every posting has been nothing but encouragement and pushing me forward to bigger and blacker cars. We will never meet but I almost feel a kinship in all of you in our common love for pure perfection. One thing I have learned!.......this is NO hobby or job for those of us who are not as good physically as we once were. I have a new respect for you guys that have to do this for a living!

ABF congrats on your first detailing customer.

Some colors don't lend themselves to the pop. I am sure you did a great job. Now go detail a darker vehicle. lol.

                            Congrats on your first project..

Yes black is a great colour to work on.

Look at the pics of this black peugeot 207 CC I detailed.

Also I would suggest purchasing a brinkman dual xenon. Great for finding swirls and scratches.
