  • question about Meguiar's pads for the PC

My goal is to be able to use the cleaner, polish, glaze, NXT wax, and light scratch removal with the PC. The pad package that Meguiar offer is the W-DAV99 http://www.meguiars.com/store_meguia...AV99&store=meg

if I didn't read it wrong, it comes with the backing plate and 2 polishing pad + one finishing pad right? What other pads do I need beside the ones that come in the package? Thank you in advance.

That kit is an excellent starter package. In addition to that, you may want to pick up a couple additional 8006 pads for more polishes and glazes since you only want to use one product per pad. You may also want to get a couple of 6.5" Ultimate Bonnets for product removal. Hope this helps.

If the W8006 polishing pad is not doing right with your cleaner, (I presume it's DACP), then you may want to opt for a more aggressive pad or the W7006 cutting pad.

Your needs will all depend on the condition of the paint you're working on. If you want cutting power add the W7006 pad.

I have all the three pads, W70006-9006, except for the wool pad. My opinion is that if W7006 is not doing it with my DACP, I'll change to 84 or 85 rather than use the wool pad.

        Hey,

        Just to chime in here...

Meguiar's does not recommend using the W-7006 Cutting Pad with the PC buffer. The cutting pad is recommended for the rotary buffer only.

The PC's action, combined with the cutting pad will often haze or dull down the surface. As a result, many people have a great deal of trouble removing this haze.

Finally, Meguiar's #84 Compound Power Cleaner and the #85 Diamond Cut are for rotary use only as well.

As for the pads, the kit is a good start. I would also add another W-8006 Polishing and another W-9006 Finishing Pad. And as another poster mentioned, I would also add a couple of the Ultimate MF Bonnets as well.

thank you all for the replies, I also forgot to add that I like to remove the products by hand and it's a DA PC.

I overlooked the PC usage issue. Sorry!

            Tim, thanks for clearing!
