  • When claying won't work

    Hello all!
What would you guys recommend to remove any oxidation that the clay bars won't take off on my cars finish? We've had a ton of road construction around where I live this summer and the air around town has had alot of dust and dirt in it.

    Appreciate all the replies!

By oxidation, do you mean dirt bonded to the paint that the mild clay wont remove, or dirt/defects in the paint?

You could try the aggressive clay that Meguiar's offers.

I have not heard about this product yet. Has anyone used it? Thanks for the suggestion.

Are you sure that what you need is clay and not polish to remove the oxidation?

The stronger red clay (Professional - Strong) may leave mild marring, so best to plan on a swirl removal step after.

The blue clay (professional - mild) is stronger than the white clay.

Obviously hard to say for sure which you would need, but if you were buying more clay for regular use, the blue wont hurt.

Oxidation and industrial/natural fallout are two very different things. From what the OP is describing it sounds like fallout was extremely heavy in recent months in his area so he's got a high level of above surface bonded contaminants. Depending on quantity and how securely bonded this stuff is, you really may want to step up to our C2000 blue mild professional clay. It is a good bit more aggressive than the consumer clay but without the high potential of hazing the paint like our C2100 red aggressive clay that ocdetail linked to.

If the consumer clay is making progress but that progress is really slow, step up to the C2000 blue mild pro clay.
