I have used wheel wax on both chrome and clearcoated wheels and I did not notice any difference. They were not any easier to clean afterwards and it did not change the look. I do not know what the effect would be on polished aluminum.

I use wheel wax and love the stuff! I use them on my alloy rims every so often and they definitely are easier to clean. When I did my first coat I took my wheels off to get the entire wheel.

I really like it though, goes on easy and comes off very easily. Here is a video Todd made blasting the dirt off of a wheel that had wheel wax applied to it!

Currently, I use my old nxt tech wax v1 for my wheels. if that goes out, i'll probably use the same wax as what i use on the paint or just buy cleaner wax.

I just use the old formula of #21, on the wheels. I realize the protection will not last long.

I've been using AIO for wheels for a long time. May not be the best, but with the extreme 'hazing' when it dries it is easy to completely remove.

Nothing worse than seeing that 'dull' spot after you've finished 'cause you missed it.

Well, that all depends, if by wax you mean a real wax vs the wheel sealants listed, then you will get some benefit. However any durable sealant will last as long as the mentioned products, neither of which have a great rep for durability. I use PB Wheel Sealant for a couple of reasons over a traditional sealant:

-It seems to be an excellent cleaner of wheel grime, much stronger than your average cleaner wax
-It looks great on silver. (I've actually tried it on my fender too...lol)
-Its super easy to apply and remove, its almost fun to use

                      Re: Waxing Wheels

Usually the heat generated from the brakes. Cuts the longevity of the wax big time.

Exactly. I apply the same wax I use on my car to the wheels and it does not last long because of the heat and/or brake dust. I noticed because after only a week of fresh wax, I found the wheels were not that smooth.

However, I did try Wheel Wax and I did not see significant improvement.
