I have used 105 on 5-6 cars now with unbelievable results. I have started to detail my partners car, a single stage 1985 white BMW and I am stuck! I had to pack up my gear and come up stairs to write this! I am using a rotary with a wool pad as the paint is quite oxidized. It is close to raining and entering the Summer in Australia. When I am buffing it is quite a sticky feeling and there is nothing to wipe off at the end of the sectioned buff. When I use a terry towel, nothing comes off and the paint looks like there is left over 105 but it won't rub out. I used final detailer and some comes off but now it's just a big (little section) of boot mess. What the heck have I done?

The paint may be very dried out. M105 will do that on vert dry, single stage paint. Go with a wool pad and some M85 if you have. That product was designed to remov heavy oxidation from single stage paints. You could also give the M83/M80 combo a shot with some foam pads. That combo is a classic and may surprise you.Tedrow's Detailing

How big of a section are you working? sometimes when you work to big product gets to the outside edges and then you never pick it back up with the pad and it dries. Also I have found that it removes easier working it in a bit longer. Could also be like the paint though, im not to sure here so throwing ideas your way

area would be size of a magazine cover or so. feel like it's the paint as i have never had issues or this feeling before. i only own 105/205 and UC as i'm in australia. maybe i can use the DA with UC instead?

I would give it a go with UC and the DA and see what happens. It may be that the paint does not like the heat of the rotary.Tedrow's Detailing

I had the same problem when I was trying to bring the silver roof of my El Camino back from the dead. I tried numerous compounds, polishes and glazes without success. The paint just seemed to absorb the product with little to no change in the gloss. Loading up the paint with M07 made all the difference in the world.

M105 is at it's best on fresh paint, or at least on factory cured paint. That's not to say it can't be used on single stage paint, but on very badly dried out paint it can be challenged. We've seen this even on a fairly new Ferrari 360 Modena, but even on that particular car we would describe the paint as being dried out. M105 exhibited exactly what you are describing on that Ferrari.
Moving to something like M83 or M80 will make your life a lot easier when working on this car. If you really need a lot of cut you may want to try M84 or M85 but just understand that neither will finish out like you're used to seeing with M105. They will most likely be a better match with the paint on that particular car though.Michael Stoops

1. Will UC work at all?
2. If I use M80 can I use M205 as a polish or do I need to follow it up with a M80 type product?
