  • Suggestions for new paint care

I have an '11 Toy Avalon painted silver metallic that I bought 3 months ago. It will be my 'daily driver' & I keep it garaged. I had the dealer apply the vehicle shield protection package that included applying the Toyota brand Sealant Cleaner to the paint. A few days ago I used the #7 glaze & I'm pleased with the results. I know it doesn't last very long so what should I use next, considering winter will be here at the end of October. I have #26 yellow wax & the Deep Crystal 3 carnuba paste; I'm hand waxing. Been using Turtle Wax 2001 car wash but planning to move to Gold Class wash. The state's road crews here use mag chloride on the roads when snow is falling so I'd like to protect against that if I can.

Related issues: there are some chrome strips along the rocker panels, the trunk, door handles, & atop the grill below which looks like aluminum; pics are linked below, 3rd pic from the right is a close-up of the grill. I assume the carnuba will be fine on the chrome but don't know about the aluminum - applying & taking the wax off could be iffy. Additionally, the insides of the windows have the fog/film, supposedly coming from the seat materials. Would the D120 glass cleaner remove that fog/film?

Thanks for any advice you can offer. I look forward to being an active member of the forum.

As far as general detailing, I would look at:

    1. Wash
    2. Clay
    3. ColorX
    4. Wax - Nxt 2.0, #26, Gold Class+ whichever you like

You can gently cleaner/wax and wax the plastic/metal parts as well.

The D120 is a good product, and you get a lot for the money. Nxt Glass Cleaner is also good if you just want the smaller size.
