  • Help! Bad scuff marks on new paint.

Hey everyone.. first and foremost I want to say that I have been using megs products for the last 10 years. I love their stuff, and sometimes I think I am in over my head with all the different products out there!

    Anyways,

i just recently had some body work done on my 07 civic. it is nighthawk black pearl, so you can imagine how easily flaws are seen. so to make a logn story short, body guy rubs his hand on the pillar feeling for overspray WHILE THERE IS DIRT ON THE CAR!! I don't know why body guys always do this... they of all people should know better. So hes rubbing and what not and I don't really care too much because i figure if he left any scuffs I would just buff it out at home..

The paint was done about 2 weeks ago.. so not fresh out of the oven, but still fresh and hasn't fully cured yet 100%.

So today I see the car under direct sun and to my shock i see scuffs in the area about 3 inches long and abotu an inch thing.. it looks like someone put sandpaper to it! well makes sense.. the car had dirt on it.. it was basically like sandpaper! I went out and got scatchX to no avail... then i used show car glaze to see if i could polish it out.. helped a bit but nothing great.. then i worked it in more... turned to my step 2 cyrstal polish.. better... then went to see if step 1 cleaner would work.. not bad.. then back to step 2.. then scratchx... right not it is OK it is about 50% better but there are areas where it got scratched a bit depper but nowhere near the base coat as you cannot feel the scuff you can only see it in certain reflections.. so my question is... should i try the UC on it? is the UC better than scratchx? i thought scratchx would be the best for the spot treatment.. or would i potentially need to mechanically buff it out as i would need to follow the steps of polishing after wetsanding?

    TIA!

    Was it ScratchX 2.0?

Pictures would be great. How many times did you go over it with the ScratchX? Try going over it a second time and if it does not look like it's doing much, then move up to something a little stronger like UC. ScratchX may be strong enough but it may take a couple of applications for it to do the trick.

yes it is scratchx 2.0. after really working it in with elbow grease 3 or 4 times over it has made improvements.. i will probably have better luck with UC, but i am sure i will achieve good results if i keep going at it with the scratchx.

How were you applying? Can use terry for some added cut, and go across the scratches.
