We just purchased an '05 Corvette and was curious as to if I can clay it? Sounds like a stupid question but I had to ask. Thanks

By all means. Claying is a big step in the prep stage.

thanks for your quick posts! I was not sure, people were telling me that the Vette has differant surfaces and that I should not clay, so that was the reason for my Question. Thank you again. I clayed my Hyundai and just the claying made a huge differance. Thanks again..

You might want to read through the 5 Step Paint Care Cycle for more info on how to evaluate your finish and the steps needed to correct what that evaluate reveals.

At this point, whether you need a pure polish or a cleaner of some sort is impossible for us to say since we can't see the car. You'll have to make that determination following the guidelines set forth in the 5 Step to see what's needed. Keep in mind that you only really need to do those steps that address specific issues. As you mentioned, the paint already feels very smooth so claying probably won't gain you much. But how does the paint look in direct sunlight? That will tell you if need a paint cleaner of some sort to correct any below surface issues.

thank you for your help Michael, there were some very very light scratches and a few spots where there were swirls, I went with Swirl X which comes off a little harder than the Polish but it seemed to work excellantly. Now do I skip the polish and go right to the wax? The finish now looks great, mirror like with no blemishes. thanks again

                    Re: new to claying

Polish is a optional step. You can go straight to your wax.

Remember, 2 thin coats of wax are better then one thick coat. Wait 20-30 minutes minimum after removing the first coat to apply the second coat.
