M07 & m2611

Just wanting to know if there would be any benefit to putting down a layer of M-07 (Professional Show Car Glaze) before I put down 2 coats of M-2611 (Hi-Tech Yellow Wax) on my white car?

I've also got a few bottles of Deep Crystal Paint Cleaner stashed away. Would it be worth using that after washing & before sealing & waxing.

Doing it all by hand if that makes any difference.

IMO, both questions get the same answer; Try a test spot. If your paint is in great shape, clean and recently clayed, DC Cleaner may not make a noticeable difference. Otherwise it likely will. Similar situation with M07. An aged single-stage paint can show a huge difference in gloss and depth after an application of #7. I have almost 20 Meguiar's products on my shelf, and M07 is the one I value most. However, its effect on a healthy BC/CC finish may not be enough to justify the effort. Considering the effort necessary to do the entire car with both products, a little time invested in a test panel would be a worthwhile endeavor.

M07 Topped with M26 is a spectacular combo. IMO though you should NOT need 2 coats of the M26 but you could give it a shot. Diminishing returns comes to mind.

Thanks for the replies.

The paint is in great condition for 23yrs old but the quality of the original paint job is pretty poor, 2 coats acrylic laquer complete with a few dozen fish eyes that I had to touch up.

I hit it with Scratch X 2.0 a few weeks ago & Kitten No1 afterwards & was amazed at how much better it looked without 23yrs of swirl marks. Now I want to try & improve on that even further by adding a sealer/glaze & using a good quality wax. The paint cleaner is pretty much just to remove the Kitten wax.

I'll do a test panel in next 24hrs using the DCPC, the M07 & one layer of M2611 & post pics so you can see the difference.

Thanks for the reply BillyJack but the link only takes me to a blank page. Could you fix try to fix the link for me or give me the title of the article so I do a search for it please?

I forgot to ask if there is a certain amount of time I should wait after applying M-07 & before applying M-2611 or can I just put the M-2611 on straight after applying the M-07? I did a test panel today laying the M-2611 just a few minutes after the M-07 & I can see an improvement but it wasn't as much as I expected, so I'm wondering what I might have done wrong.

I did take some before & after pics as well as some side by side panel comparisons but I didn't realise I can't post attachments yet. I'm guessing there is a minimum post number before I can add attachments?

Here's my first try at the process on my El Camino. I didn't have any M80 in stock at the time, so I just did a pass with M03 and a rotary. M80, NXT and M26 are yet to come.

Nutter, if you machine polish it will make a big difference.

Where in Perth are you? I'm in Ridgewood.

Don't have a machine polisher to do it that way. I prefer to work by hand usually anyway. Gives me more feel for what's going on & I notice any imperfections while I'm working by hand. Maybe one day I'll get a DA to work with but that's not on my "must have" list at the moment.

I'm in Dianella/Noranda. Right on the border of the two suburbs. It's only a stock 6cyl VN Commodore but it's only done 170,000km with log book service, no rust & a near perfect interior. There's still a bunch of fish eyes & fine scratches for me to get rid of (mainly in lower half of body) but I'm moving house soon & don't know when I'm going to get to fix those things so I'm just trying to get it looking as good as possible for the time being. Your average person would be hard pressed to notice any marks unless they really look hard. Those in the car detailing world would pick 100 things wrong within the first minute or two.

The M-07 did nothing for the finish at all, no matter how much of it I did or didn't use or how long I did or didn't work it in for. I'm not impressed with that product at all.

Few things... first off the paint looked great in the images I saw on that link, good work!

As for the link itself, we ask new users to avoid posting any types of hyperlinks before reaching a 30 post count. Is there any chance you could upload the pictures to the FREE Meguiar's hosting site? HERE IS HOW to do it.

Then you can embed the images into the message for all to see.

As for the M07, you are working with a white paint...it's very, very difficult to get truly stand-out results on white paint, especially with a non-abrasive pure polish. M07 really does wonders on darker colors, and may or may not have as noticeable of results on whites which show very little.

In this case, the work the ScratchX 2.0 did made the M07 far less noticeable.

Thanks for the tips Mark. I'll look at the hosting site when I have a little more time.

I wasn't expecting a huge difference on the white sections of the car because like you say it's hard to get stand out results on white. I was expecting much better on the black sections along the bottom of the doors & on the B pillar though, which didn't recieve the Scratch X treatment. I think the problem is my lack of experience with this particular product (experimentation needed) & the fact that the paint is all in pretty good condition to start with so the difference I was looking for isn't as pronounced as others may experience.
