I have this yellow stuff that builds up on my brake disks whenever I rinse them with water and then it drips onto my rims. What is it and how do I prevent it?
It sounds like mild rust forming on the rotors, then dripping. It takes no time at all for mild rust to form on rotors.
I suggest you try to dry them with compressed air. You likely don't even need to do a very good job of drying them. Just enough so the they don't sit there dripping for an hour as the rust is forming.
edit: If it's like a yellow powder I have no idea. I would still suggest trying to dry them a bit after each wash and see if that eliminate or reduces the issue. Maybe we can narrow this down a bit. It could still be rust. It's just so light, that you can wipe it off.
